WANTED - Patient representative for Prostate Steering Group at Leighton Hospital
Tuesday, 25th May 2021
The Leighton Hospital Urology Department is looking for help setting up a radical new type of prostate cancer assessment clinic.
Marius Craciun, a member of the department who gave a presentation about Transperineal Biopsies at the recent online group meeting, is working with other colleagues to set up a one-stop prostate cancer assessment clinic at Leighton. At such a clinic, all investigations would be done at one visit rather than at different appointments for MRI, clinic and biopsy etc. The Urology department feels this would be a really exciting and important step that would improve the patient journey and lead to a diagnosis (and treatment if needed) faster that the current pathway.
To help make this vision a reality, Urology at Leighton have set up a prostate cancer steering group. They feel that it would be very helpful to have a patient perspective on this steering group. It is understood that most of the steering group meetings will be held online using Microsoft Teams.
Would you be prepared to get involved? If you are interested, or would like more information, please contact Tom Kural who is the Urology Service manager at Tom.Kural@mcht.nhs.uk
